The demands here seem right on target. However, I would like to read the text of the the UR-Peaceful Investing Initiative" and learn about its history. Also, I'd like to see an humanitarian aid for Gaza campaign in my area (Ithaca and environs), and would like suggestions on which groups/aid agencies we should look at. The twinning with Gaza University and scholarships for Palestinian students are splendid, positive, and practical demands that forge and carry forward a relationship. If it takes a building occupation to bring serious action on these demands, then so be it. I hope the support broadens and this serves as a model on other campuses as well.
MoveOn.org is accepting the false view, unfortunately held by many in the antiwar movement, that the occupation of Iraq is basically over. -Anthony Arnove
ON MARCH 2, the liberal organization MoveOn.org--known for mobilizing opposition to the Bush administration through the Internet--sent an e-mail to its membership that declared the U.S. war on Iraq effectively over:
Phil Aliff was deployed to Iraq with the Army's 10th Mountain Division and is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). In March 2007, he helped start IVAW's first active-duty chapter and became a dedicated antiwar activist.
Here, he reports on the growing epidemic of suicides among veterans of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
SHERRY WOLF is a long time activist currently living in Chicago. Member of the Editorial Board of International Socialist Review, Wolf has written articles on a variety of topics ranging from the war in Iraq to the struggle of women to gain access to abortion. Some recent articles include “Stonewall: The birth of gay power,” and “The Myth of the Black/Gay Divide.” Her essays and lectures can be seen in Monthly Review, Znet, and on CounterPunch.org.
So I know it's not anti-war, and I know it's not dealing with veterans' issues, but it's a play and it's fun and everyone should go.
February 7th at 7pm Brian Jones will be performing "Marx in Soho" a play written by Howard Zinn. Tickets are $5 for students, $7 before the day of the show, and $10 at the door. I'm copy pasting some information below.

I thought that this article by Eric Ruder was a good one with which to start my blogging. I think a lot of us right now are considering what are our roles as activists are now that Obama has been elected. There is a tremendous amount of hope out there and people are finally interested in politics and in "doing something." But for those of us who have been out there chanting, protesting, writing, reading, sticking it to the man, for a while it is kind of confusing.
